Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. James is the son of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. His father is Nigerian while his mom is is caucasian-American. James graduated in 2010 at Sanderson High School. In 2015, he graduated with a Bachelor of Economics degree from Wake Forest University. James gained fame when his appearance on The Bachelorette as a reality television star. James was chosen in 2020 as the bachelor of the year on The Bachelor season 25, becoming the show's debut African American male star. The show premiered later in the year. James would be a perfect match to play the role because is tall, beautiful and humorous. Rachael Krukconnell was his love interest at the end of season. He teamed up with the well-known dancing star Arnold in 2021, to take part on season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold placed 12th in the contest.
